Shaky Ground
Verity Shuttleworth  12/06/2017
A formidable creature rips at the land, bucking and dislodging. Tearing in its path, like a bull let loose from a radio.
Footsteps are shaking, the earth's surface is quaking. Crumbling they turn into ash.
Blackness erupts towards the sky in a thick bellowing movement. Tear stricken witnesses gaze upon their old lives in misery. Hearts beat faster like a raven calling.
All  structures brought to dust, deserted streets left in ruin.
People cling mutely to unfamiliar surroundings, as the ground below, Is slashed and shredded apart Beneath their feet.
Dust erodes the sky, in a impenetrable blanket. People watch in vain as there lives turn to rubble. The earth's surface is trembling, in the now deserted avenue.
Crowds huddled watching ruins and devastated. Booming sounds crack as deep jagged cuts slice the land irreplaceable.
Fractures erode in building as society mutely witnesses debris strewn in all directions. Decaying liveless mortar hang unhinged.
Streets drowned in powered dust and grit, age the confusion, swept in like a ghost, silently coming and going in a unremarkable night.
