SHALL I CUT OFF MY EAR

SHALL I CUT OFF MY EAR

SHALL I CUT OFF MY EAR

Plight of the Transvestite

Ricardo Antonio Garcia

Shall I cut off my ear in contempt?

This wayward bargain

cannot even please Matilda, or Madeline

whatever her name was.

Setting her bosom on her wine glass woman

disrupted my millennium thought

now I will never carriage those words again.

Confounded lesbian, wishes for sex

but does she even now that I am a man?

Famine hair, eyes and the alluring lips

as a woman I have

but as a man I also have the other thing.

Ruthless embargo on these Souls we possess

to think for an instant

that the mind can run away free ahead of itself.

I would have had Shakespeare all to myself

and let him womanize with me.

Shall I dress like a woman for a day?

Shall I walk through London in a business suit?

I am so tired of being a civilian puppet.

Who will draw my strings

when I am buried in the ground?

God- perhaps …

but can He Save a wretched Soul like me?

My own Mother could not look at me in the eye

for the penetration of my mind she could not pursue

when I was greedy for knowledge.

Shall I cut off my ear in contempt?

I think not.
