Shared Shade

Shared Shade

I promise to listen attentive,
Every word you say, without
Uttering a single one myself.
Silence has its own language,
Often speaking volumes, but
Not everyone understands it;
It is a language to be learnt,
As much as it needs teaching.
We walk together, same path;
Why then this upset distance?
The sun is at its hottest, and
I've an umbrella full of shade.
Come, let's share it together
Matching steps and one voice-
Yours. You speak, I will listen.

This is a wonderful image. Rather than looking at the world from an odd angle, you look at it askance and the peculiarities of your perspective come out in your writing.

The language of silence can indeed be learnt; I think it begins when we stop listening to the many silent voices within and start listening to those ones without.
But listening...hearing...and understanding are all very different things...

A beautifully written piece.
