Siege

Siege

Fluttering breeze dried the rheum of sleep
Birds sang; leaves danced; to the wind’s rhythm
Clouds parted their curtains to the spectacle
The sun cast its light on nature’s dais
It was a clean green display of beauty
Art nurtured by nature
To her ‘all-knowing’ children, beauty was not all
They tirelessly fed their wants
Her gravid belly was dug for gold and glitz
Her helpless offspring, poached for their appendages
A homicide!
The homage of surviving trees no more suffices a downpour
The seas are rising in anger to drown the lands
The soil is soiled with sin

Mother Earth bleeds
It’s her children who drain her of blood
