Single Men

I'm a single man
And I know others
Who are single too.
Living near me:
We each have
The jobs we do.

We live in homes
(I've seen a few)
Which lack the
female touch:
A little untidy admittedly
Perhaps it doesn't
Matter much.

There may be washing up
Needing doing
Stains on carpets
And elsewhere
And DVDs for viewing.

An over- reliance on takeaways:
Cooking's too much like hard work.
"Chicken Korma with plain rice?
Have a good night sir".

We spend our evenings
On the internet and social media
Looking for entertainment
Sometimes contributing something of worth:
A sense then of attainment.

It's a fruitless existence perhaps-
It might be that's our fate
With no "other half" to complement us.
Our seed does go to waste.

It's a life.
