Single Mom's Story

Once upon a time in life,
I believed in love, all people's right,
Yet when grew up, indeed I found,
This wasn't true, and thus let down.
At first it seemed to be this way,
A love I'd hold, no one could take,
But soon would see this was just dream,
For he would soon take off and leave.
Alone I'd sit then in my home,
With bills to pay and kids to hold,
As tears would fall, just what to do,
For fear would grip me as my tune.
A time would come to be then strong,
With school to go, and work my song,
But God was right there by my side,
To whom He was the one I'd cry.
Today my life, it is OK,
The lights still on and prayer of thanks,
And one day might find my true love,
As this I hope, and won't give up.

I am not a single mother, but wrote this poem from the view of a brave, single mom I know who is a strong woman who I look up to. My deepest respect to all the single moms out there who fight for their children to have a great life, man or no man beside them. ❤
