Poem -

Sister.

Sister.

I am the black sister.
But my brothers will not let me speak
I am the black sister.
But my brothers mistake me for a theif and a creep
I am the black sister.
But a voice i was never given
I am the black sister.
Yet a victim of the world that we live in
I am the black sister.
But im not considered as beautiful as the others
My skin is too dark my hair is too nappy "its not our fault you got it from your mothers."
I am the black sister.
But im arrested for speaking my mind
In a country based on freedom injustice isnt too hard to find
I am the black sister.
My people fought here too
But most of the stuff we did they forget to teach in school
I am the black sister.
Not a troubled youth
Take me to the suburbs you'll see i too can be like you
I am the black sister.
We serve the same God
Cut my flesh open we have the same blood
I am the black sister.
I been the black sister.
I will no longer remain just "the black sister."
