Down by the creek

The old man sat by cherry creek
Under the old oak tree
The old man had eyes bright like the sun
He wore his long dark hair in a small bun
He never spoke a word
He watched the kids play all day in the dirt
The old man wore no shoes
His clothes were torn , nothing on him was new
He sat there all day in the sun
All day in the winter
All season long
People tried giving him money but he gave it back
People tried giving him food but he wouldn't even take that
His wife passed away she drowned in the creek
Ever since then he refused to speak
Some call him weird my brother said hes a freak
He even threw rocks at him because hes so weak
But the old man never moved and no one understood
Well its been a few years now and i havnt seen him around
The tree he sat under has tumbled to the ground
Some say he took his life in the creek
Though im not sure i pray his soul is free
