Sitting on a park bench

Sitting on a park bench
i noticed on my right
the alcoholic stench
was from an old poor sight.

He offered me a swallow
from something in a sack
then he began to bellow
from his life year's back.

He said he once was married
to  a goddess of a girl
the love they once carried
was worth more than any pearl.

As I sat there listening
to this old man speak
i noticed a tear glistening
and rolling down his cheek.

Seems they got together
not to far from here
he said he'd see no other
as long as she was near.

Then he bent over
for a smashened cigarette
showed a photo of his lover
and asked if i had loved yet.

He said love comes easy
for two who want to love
but two can't be together
when one is up above.

I have waited half my life
and kept up on all my charms
cause i know one day my wife
will again be in my arm's.

And with that being his last words
he had spoken
that poor old man was finally chosen.
