Six Degrees Of Separation

Six Degrees Of Separation

To each one, I’m assigning a meaning, these degrees I will portray;
Six of them that grow harder, to bear and practice every day!
The first stands for the distance, we all must stay apart;
Six feet of separation, this safety rule impart!
.
Second, is the eyes that greet us, from behind their mandatory masks;
Such sadness and depression, for this ne’er before known task!
The third is for frustration, no longer being near our dearest friends;
To break bread and dine together, our lives on distance do depend!
.
Fourth is for the consternation, of staying in our abodes;
Trying to cope with the longest hours, our sanity implodes!
The fifth is for the angst we are feeling, that anything we touch;
Could be harboring Coronavirus, that we fear so very much!
.
The sixth is far the worst one, the terror that we might die;
Even with all of our precautions, no matter how hard that we try!
These “Six Degrees Of Separation”, hopefully soon will pass;
We all will have our lives back, and mingle with the mass!
.
.
Six degrees haunt us
Testing our courage and strength
We must all stay strong

Being Me

This has been thought out so well! I totally get this...as we all will. This common enemy is terrifying...we can't even see it invading us...which makes it all the more scary. Well written words, Larry. Keep safe x

My Dear Being Me,

Thank you for your powerful insight into my work.
Hopefully, in the near future, we will no longer be "visibly" shaken, by this "invisible" monster.

All my love,

Incredible format Larry - I'm so impressed! I really liked how you used the six degrees or perspectives to describe the many hard elements to living through a pandemic. We are all so very affected, even if we never get the virus, we'll always have this new fear of catching it in the future.

Favorite part:

Fourth is for the consternation, of staying in our abodes;
Trying to cope with the longest hours, our sanity implodes!
The fifth is for the angst we are feeling, that anything we touch;
Could be harboring Coronavirus, that we fear so very much!

I also enjoyed reading all the end rhymes, so clever! I'm still trying to find the part of my brain that is supposed to rhyme. Great work, thanks for sharing it.

My Dear Katina,

It is so nice to hear from you again.  I am so sorry, if I have not been attentive to your adversities, but I think we are all now lost in our own fights to survive this monster.
Your lovely comment has brought me joy, and implanted happiness into my saddened heart.
A good way to train your brain for rhyming, is to often create little lines of poetic cadence.
I hope that this finds you and your loved ones all staying safe and doing well.

All my love,
Larry xxx
