Skeletons

Skeletons

We all have our skeletons,

Our deepest secrets, biggest lies,

And we spend our lives believing

We can keep them all inside.

We cover them with fake smiles,

Followed by happy-sounding "I'm okays",

While we live our lives dreading

To hide like this for one more day.

We lie to our closest loved ones,

Tell our friends that we're all right,

Forcing laughter, feigning contentment,

Yet screaming unheard cries at night.

We all have a skeleton,

Past the dimples and blue eyes,

And we try to keep others from seeing

The ugly thing which beneath us lies.

For if they knew, they'd view us differently

Than they ever had before,

Looking past any extremities,

Straight down to our rotten core.

And so we live a life of fear,

Holding our secrets deep within,

But, my dear, we all have skeletons

Hidden just beneath our skin.

Hello H. Schmidt...

Are you sure no one really knows those hidden skeletons?

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...
