Solace in a bitter glass

Amber ale in a frosted glass,
Copious tipple in a wooden cask,
Ambience resonates laughs and cries,
Shadowy figures deal cards and lies.
Ditty melody, banter and jest,
Piano notes fain picturesque.
Dusky maitre d' midst leering eyes,
Wild turkey for sir or martini dry?
Glutenous betwixt smoke in sorrow,
Arguable pleas unable to follow,
Saturated, spew, succumbed to defeat,
Transient, sombre, shown into the street.

Wonderful ink Simon. Love the cadence and flow.
Thank you so much I'm trying my best to find my voice again.
Great stuff -
one of my favourite classical pieces of music.
Terry.
Thank you Terry I look forward to reading more if your stuffΒ
In, the heat of the night, how do you determine pitch, from murky underbelly ? The red raw resolve to see beyond the gloom. To find the shapes. And, the japes. With, their escapes. Cast, from the rituals, of mindcraft, hell-bent on focusing on what matters. All ways. In, the flowing medium of the imagery, of dream and seam. No wish fitting the evasive properties.
The blurred lines denoting, what is there, and, masking what is not. Beyond, the synaptic impulse. To, generate ones own world. Of, illusion, and, collusion, defining right ways to go. As well as the traps, of the spell, and, the tale. To, mimic fearsome aptitudes, to surrealist emotions. Reality, dispelled briefly, for promise. And, tomorrow. With, its worth, given to premise.Β
Intuitive concepts sought, and, delivered, with flamboyant pronounciations.
:) :)
Thank you for such an awesome comment my friend.Β Very talented comment too lolΒ
This is friggin' BRILLIANT SIMON!!β¦..I can tell you put some serious effort into this piece.....each line stands beautifully on its own and comes together to paint an unbelievably accurate (for anyone who's been there) picture of what it's like to be the 'functioning alcoholic' who thinks himself in control......but who in actuality loses everything in the end......ALL STARS!! & PINNED!!β¦...powerful poetry my friend!!β¦...seriously ~ "Smokin' grooves brother!!"....Smokin' grooves!!β¦β¦..T xo : )
Thank you so much Tony your words mean alot.Β Suffering with writers block and the joyous exploits of children and other various distractions, just trying to find my voice again.
This is superb! Written beautifully x
This was my phase of attaching music to try and put across in detail what was in my head.
Iβve never βbeing thereβ, but I donβt have to, before I can think how hard it must be. Here, youβre not a judge (who Am I to judge) but a sympathetic poet brilliantly describing how it feels. And Chopinβs Nocturnes are a nice treat. Great piece, Simon. Β B
