Somebody lied

Somebody lied

Somebody lied
and people died
although the world won't say
from Wuhan's stalls
to New York mall's
confusion came to play,
though the W.H.OΒ
gave the way to go
who really could we trust
from Melbourne to Rome
all confined to home
we do what we must,
as leaders spoke
to clueless folk
the spin still seemed to matter
the panic flowed
and the worry showed
amongst the senseless chatter,
through trouble and strife
in the fight for life
our resolve came to the fore
whilst the numbers grew
our light shone through
to lions of humble roar,
but as we fight
through our darkest night
some day we'll wonder why
somebody lied
and people died
beneath a wicked ploy.
