Poem -

Someone Special

               Tears rush down my face,

As my heart cries a silent plea,

I would like someone special,

Made just for me.

                My knees ache in pain,

As I kneel down on my floor,

My heart whispers yet again,

I can’t take this anymore.

The muscles in my arm are tight,

As my knees are pulled to my chest,

Please, I need someone,

They don’t have to be the very best.

My heart is about to break,

With all the love I hold in,

I fear I will be single,

‘Til the very end.

But then someone special comes along,

And wipes the tears from my face,

They wrap their arms tight around me,

In the warmest embrace.

They carry me to a chair,

So my knees aren’t in pain,

They lean down by my ear,

And whisper my name.

They rub the muscles in my arm,

And hold me tight to their chest,

They might not be perfect,

But to me, they’re the best.

They keep my heart in one piece,

With the love flowing from them,

They vow to stay by my side,

‘Til the very end.

Tears rush down my face,

As my heart cries a silent plea,

I would like someone special,

Made just for me.

                My knees ache in pain,

As I kneel down on my floor,

My heart whispers yet again,

I can’t take this anymore.

The muscles in my arm are tight,

As my knees are pulled to my chest,

Please, I need someone,

They don’t have to be the very best.

My heart is about to break,

With all the love I hold in,

I fear I will be single,

‘Til the very end.

But then someone special comes along,

And wipes the tears from my face,

They wrap their arms tight around me,

In the warmest embrace.

They carry me to a chair,

So my knees aren’t in pain,

They lean down by my ear,

And whisper my name.

They rub the muscles in my arm,

And hold me tight to their chest,

They might not be perfect,

But to me, they’re the best.

They keep my heart in one piece,

With the love flowing from them,

They vow to stay by my side,

‘Til the very end.

Stephanie!  I love this poem because it is so honestly penned with longing and desire.  Your heart is full to bursting, however, I think you must wait patiently.  You are too special and yes "they have to be the very best" for you otherwise you will find yourself back on the floor again.  Excellent imagery and content…you are the special person…and someone is looking for your kind of heart!

Thanks. It's a surprise for someone. If it wins. I hope they like it. It was spur of the moment, just popped in my head.

I used "they" so the poem could be from a woman to a man or from a man to a woman.
