Song of the Mermaid-- Stuck in the Last Song on the Radio
I am a casualty of love
a fish out of water
Feeling lost in familiar places
My spirit is broken
And my mind absent from the body
With scar tissue on my scar tissue
I keep company with shadows
And exiled angels;
telling me lame stories
Of their lost heaven
they give me no sympathy
though I tell them
of my circumstance and how I am
Conquered by this emotion
That took the best of me;
after I invested my heart
it only gave me crosses to bear
And dark souvenirs to carry
leaving me a casualty of love
Feeling lost in familiar places
living out the last sad song
I heard on the radio

Cherie, The Premier Poet, the Oracle of Cosmo, I've read every poem you ever wrote on this site and for what it's worth; you never disappoint and never will, so even if you say Chris, 'your write was as flat as a carpenter's wife,' I would not blink an eye and be incredibly grateful that you have taken the time to read my weird work, hey sis thank you, have a safe trip and give my brother a 'gentle' head butt for me....thanks sis
