SONNET OF THE SHORE
A POEM BY WILLIAMSJI MAVELI

SONNET OF THE SHORE
Upon the sand she walked, her soul in strife,
The silent Moon upon the water gleamed,
While angry winds raged at her broken life,
And furious oceans by the high waves screamed.
A chaos in her mind, a freezing chill,
Her tears traced lines upon her shiv'ring cheek,
Her frantic heart commanded her to will,
To wander far from what she could not speak.
She sought escape from all the haunting pain,
And hoped to shed the shame the world had placed,
But every step confirmed the cruel refrain,
That dignity and innocence were erased.
Yet in that dark, her heart still beat to live,
And one last question, silence could not give.
