Poem -

Sorry Earth

Sorry Earth

Oh weary Earth

how dour your time

once beautiful and thriving

now contaminated and brewing

A forever promised land

flourishing home for all

resourseful and rich provider

stands abused and wasted

What is this senseless madness?

that spills upon us

destroying at core

basic humanity and reason

A mindless desire for power

to override the mass

then be the King

to personal greed and belief

Stamp on the souls of good

until broken and dead

kill the heart of normality

leaving only bleak insanity

A terminal destruction

fearful inevitable ending

and hopelessness for our

miraculous planet

Oh beautiful Earth

not deserving of flawed humanity

destined to be a dead shell

to all our failings

Sorry

Congrats on the win Wendy!

This is such a pained pining and confessional lament seeking forgiveness of Gaea, the spirit of Mother Earth, for the utter, blind and insensitive selfishness of our specie. At the same time it is a brutally honest and uncompromising mirror to the history of 'humanity',very subtly illustrating the irony that how alarmingly conflicting the two meanings of the word have come to be; one a collective noun for our specie and the other an adjective which rather loftily aspires a loose list of 'virtues' which could constitute being a human and humane.

Keep up the good work! :)
