The Splendor that Surrounds Me

The fiery pink of a backlit cloud
Paints an anthem of peace for the eyes
While evening descends like a rainbow shroud
And the sun bids adieu to the sky

Bring back hope when my future seems bleak
Like a healing balm to this old world's sting
As it bolsters my faith that's grown weak

The blanket of spots on a newborn fawn
As she sleeps in a sun dappled glen
The avian chorus breaking the dawn
For the feather, the fur and the fin

These tangible gifts from the one unseen
Reassure me I don't walk alone
On this trail of tears from where I've been
To the path that will lead me back home

The moment a sparrow first learns to fly
Or the love song between two blue whales
The relief I feel in letting hate die
And the freedom in setting hope's sail

I see no chaos as I look around
This life that boasts of such grand design
As it brings my faith from lost back to found
It's love I see in this pink skyline
