While the Queen today reached ninety three
A country was going through turmoil and atrocity
When I heard the news I nearly cried
Wasn't it Easter Sunday when Jesus died

Sri Lanka lost over two hundred people today
How and why it happened the news doesn't say
Loss of human life is a tragic loss and waste
Like swallowing a pill with a bitter aftertaste

I never can understand why innocent people should die
I shake my head and constantly wonder why
Life is so precious make the most of your time
Killing innocent people is the most hideous of crime
