Staring At The Sun

Staring At The Sun

Staring up into the sun
Letting my self go blindΒ
Making my self numb
To anything I'd ever find
Self inflicted wounds
Make for a patchwork story
I don't want to be pitied
I'm not singing the song of poor me
I'm just cruising through life
I stop to smell the roses
But all too often I'm pricked by the thorns
And nursing bloody noses
Β I love life , just getting used to all the pain it causes
Battle scars from a war fought long and hard
Warpaint in painΒ
A bruise for every ounceΒ
Of knowledge I've obtained
A broken heart
For every one I tried to love
A Scratch and cutΒ
From all the times I've been shoved
A kick to the chinΒ
When I try to view what's beyond
If you don't mind
I'm going back to staring at the sun
