Started Out Life As A Child

Started out life as a child
Cuter than the average bear if I do say so myself
Grew up in a small town across the river from Montreal
My teenage years weren't all that happy
Had an inferiority complex for some strange reason
Started working in a bank right out of high school
But knew I wasn't cut out to be a banker
Met an old schoolmate one afternoon
Told me he was working as an apprentice in an art studio
And that surely sparked my interest
Always enjoyed doodling in my spare time
To make a long story short, I took the Famous Artists Course
A correspondence course through the mail
Two or three lessons into it
Along came the opportunity to be hired as an apprentice
In the art studio of a large engraving company
I jumped at the opportunity and the rest is history
My career as a graphic designer was launched
The more successful I became
The more my inferiority complex gradually disappeared
My success gave me the much needed self confidence
That one has to have to successfully get through life
There you have it... my story, such as it is
Not the most inspiring but at least it was uniquely mine
I am no longer that insecure soul from many years ago
Which perhaps you've noticed!!!

Hi Jack I loved this trip back into your life
and i beg to disagree. It is inspirational because you
tell of not having confidence and how you
achieved it which is a great message of inspiration to people
who lack that confidence which is so important to get on

My clients as a graphic designer included Kraft, P&G, General Mills, etc. and later on many pharmaceutical companies which took up almost exclusively the last 15 years! Your guys seem to have the big time!!!!!!!! Congrats to them! Thanks my good bud! Jack xxx
Loved this write Jack. I too grew up in a small town. Not in the town itself, but in the outlying country. When reading how you grew-up outside of Montreal, I couldn't help but wonder if old Jack knows how to speak French.
The community where I was raised was nearly all French Canadians. Somerset Wisconsin to be exact. Many of the fathers of my friends that served in WWII, ended up being interpreters as the American Army marched through France. I myself was not a pea soup eater. My grandparents came from Norway. But love those French Canadians, but boy could they be 'Hell Raisers.' So I can't help wonder Jack, 'did you do a little 'Hell Raising' back in the day?
Wonderful write.
"Oui et non"... after 42 tears, that basically was the limit of my french... which is why I moved to english speaking Toronto in 1976! LOL Somerset Wisconsin, nearly all French! WOW what a huge surprise! Thanks my friend!!! Jack
Let me thank you my friend. I love reading your work. Even when it's a sad write, which is not very often, it always ends happy.
I nearly forgot. A couple of years ago I wrote a brief poem about my hometown and posted it on Cosmofunnel. Take a peek when you have time.
