Starting With Zero

Starting With Zero

 A chill is in the morning air
That takes the mood from placid
 Wind suddenly come restless and wild
As if stirred by the touch
 Of something beyond my eyes;
 Whispering troubled tales
 Making still waters fly around in circles
 Angry is the tide,
 And I was hoping today, that we
 Would spend time on the river
 Sail till the afternoon light fades gray
 Happy and easy, like fed children
 With only bending light in our way
And then remember all we forgot
When it was just the two of us
 Contented sojourners never knowing loss;
 empty hands with no burdens to carry
 Did we need comfort, back then?
 Or looked around for inspiration;
No, but took it all for granted

Hey Cherie, your comment gives me a lot to ponder, for some reason I was thinking about David and Bathsheba and how David betrayed God, when I was reading your comment, and how his narrative shifted so dramatically as he seem to become an eagle that flew less majestic, I totally see what you mean, but David came to mind, don't know why...had trouble writing this poem to be honest, I must've written a half dozen versions of it, none I liked a whole lot, this version at least captures the right tone (perhaps a bit maudlin, not sure) Interesting what it spoke to you, I was aiming for embracing contentment and happiness with simplicity and not losing track of happiness, but yeah, like you said events can trigger the loss of happiness, that is a fact...great in depth comment my friend, I learn invaluable things from your comments, your words are remarkably relevant thanks

Hey C!!.....VERY insightful piece.........like a frozen moment in time.......where you're afforded the opportunity to look back at what it could have been.........and then realize that in taking it for granted........you find sadness at having missed out on that moment of relevance........maybe I misunderstood this.........but that's what I took away from it..........and I feel better for the experience.........thank you Mamma Jamma!!..........you're one of my favorite writers.........such control and elegance in your delivery...........love and rockets brother!!...........ttyl.........T  xx

love and rockets to you as well, my brother, and you are def. one of fav writers; I got out of the habit of reading your blog, looking forward to getting back on...thanks for comment and yeah I think you got the intent of the write, but to me a breach for interpretation should always exist between the write and reader, I wish I could ask Robert Frost some questions about some of his poems, but then again no; I like to catch the vision on my own...thanks man

AUTHOR WILLIAMS...

Dear Christopher,

Excellent write, I love the below lines,

As if stirred by the touch
 Of something beyond my eyes;
 Whispering troubled tales
 Making still waters fly around in circles
 Angry is the tide,
 And I was hoping today, that we
 Would spend time on the river
 Sail till the afternoon light fades gray

Regards & Love
