State of the Nation

State of the Nation

State of the Nation
Weaponized youth carrying knives for self protection, emotionally impotent without your steel bladed  erection
Street corner gangsters, postcode Kings, thug life mantra the anthem everybody sings
Rejected by society, shunned and cast aside, reminiscing daily about a friend who died
Parents stand in cemetaries  burying their kids, and a million tears fall on so many coffin lids
It's not about colour nor even creed we're all fucking human and we all fucking bleed
States of the Nation as blue lights flash by,informing the neighbours somebody else did just die
Lost generation too far down the line, lives snuffed out with no chance to shine
Society's broken but who shoulders the blame, hold candlelight vigils whilst fanning the flame
Communities mourn with tears that soon dry,the sun will still rise and our children still die
