Stifled love

where are those smiles so divine?Â
when days have flown from cherished handsÂ
how shall hearts ignite and chime?
when love is just a grain of sandÂ
the roses bloomedÂ
but found no lightÂ
left stifled in the darkÂ
their radiant colourÂ
lost to nightÂ
they gently fall apartÂ
oh silenceÂ
with your heavy holdÂ
oh distant falling star
Â
how can I wish for love so bold
when love remains so far

'oh silence with your heavy hold'
this is a beautiful gentle verse...even sadly romantic with a lostness to it that shadows its sentiments exactly which are held entirely in that one amazing line above Gwen. I want to scoop the while thing up and give it a cwtch. One of your best here xx
Marion thank you so much for these wonderful words and for  delving in. I think as a species we are becoming a lost cause as we cannot love our indifferences, we struggle to get along and we just abuse nature xÂ
Wow Gwen! Such a powerful sad poem. I love rhyme too and this rhymes so well.Â
I wish you the best for 2023 - SydÂ
Syd it is so fabulous to see you on here :) I do hope life is treating you well my friend. Thank you for your lovely comment. Yeah I am a sucker for rhyming and playing with the sounds of words together.Â
I hope 2023 shines brightly for you and all those dear and near to you xxÂ
Even if I had wanted to stay forever neath my quilt & hide away .. this little gem of yours now gifted to us all would have enticed me out into the open .. Beautifully sad and yet with an undoubted universal appeal
to all those who would look upon this sorry world of ours similarly .. xx
Now Nev, you bless me with your thoughtful words. Thank you for always being so generous a reader on here. As always I am touched by your commentary xxÂ
and you Gwen are, as always .. muchly welcome & then some xx
This is just stunning! You have written a beautiful, beautiful verse here. I love the way it drifts into the mind as its read. There's a comforting feel about the rhyme scheme ... and excellent rhyming too. An exquisite piece of poetry x
Many many thanks my friend. Always a pleasure to read your thoughts on a piece :)
