Study In Red

Study In Red

Within that darkened cave where Fafnir waits
(Corrupted subject sprawled across the hoard)
A laughing artist joyously creates
A blood-soaked meditation with his sword.
The shadows dancing (flame-flecked) on the wall
Can lend but mere impression to the glance
And though the whole makes form which should appal
There’s strange and subtle beauty in their dance.
For in that space where brush and canvas find
each other equal to what must be done
A moment’s understanding (of the mind)
Sees artist/subject briefly dance as one.
Despite such understanding (grasping hands)
In time they part ~ one falls, the other stands.

Hi Sweetheart, you really capture the battle well in this 2nd sonnet - appalling and entrancing as they duel...

There’s strange and subtle beauty in their dance.

I love this line it really highlights the artistry in the story. Your beautiful use of languageΒ is perfect for this gripping tale
All my love

It's beautiful.... this bloody ballet you've created here JASON..... with some astonishing phrasing ~ "Sees artist/subject briefly dance as one.."..... that line is friggin' brilliant and (for me) crystallized the entire scene...... for not only do we have the two involved in this dance..... but the minds eye of the author weighs heavily with little touches like "(flame-flecked) lighting the back drop so vividly...... amazing writing brother poet...... truly......PINNED this one for future reference.... LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?β˜€βœ΄βœ³
