Submarine Repairs Needed
101520

You sank me,
but I am still alive.
There is still breath in my lungs.
Because I built a submarine,
for this very thing.
And why, you ask, would I prepare for this?
Because, I know, you see, that for me it won't last.
I will always sink.
And I am tired of nearly drowning only to be revived again.
So, here I am, in this tiny little tank.
With just enough air, but not enough space.
So leave now, walk away from the docks.
It's time to resurface, but I can't see your face.
And it's not that I still want you,
because that changed long ago.
But I can't stand to see your pain,
over the one who broke your heart,
Even though that one wasn't me.
And somehow, that's comforts me.
No wrong ideas given, I guess.
But the pattern keeps repeating,
when you fall for another.
Just like he did.
And just like they will.
So as I come up, don't turn around.
Just let me climb out so that I don't drown.
And tomorrow, when I wake,
I'll come back to the pier,
and start repairing my tank, my underwater sphere.
So next time I sink, I won't have to drown.
I'll just go below the water
safe and sound.
