SUICIDAL IN ABSTRACT TIME

He pulls the dribbling razor across his bald head
just to test where the crows once fed
in life's pointless avoided
gaze

Strange frayed ideas fed on fields shivering with fear
red oxide bleeding skies
melting ice cream clouds
dripped in gritty determination
leaving burnt holes on earths last carpet

He plays,
rubbing his frantic finger across the razors sexual blades
lovers, counted in his bed sheets
lovers counted in mad churchyard evenings
crowded moments thrust forward
almost knocking the razor from his crumbling plan

Silent the room grips his eyes
objects
he knows he can move
but a dragged coma covers his position
the razor slides with its own intent
deeper into thin slices of unforgiven flesh

Slow satisfaction breathes
alive again
painted stars
each giving birth
each bleeds a name

he places the razor
back on the clean white ceramic headstone
photographs those that could not burn
stare and smile
night settles into its heat

Lifes side effects lay unread
torn bible pages
pinned onto a dry wooden cross,

he puts the razor away
