Summer Garden

The swirling hues of blue blossom
Seemed as a smile in the corner
Where the grass ended down by the bottom
And the sun rippled the sky like water.
Time left his wings unfurled there
In those endless youthful summers.
The blades were always warm and fair,
The bees, sweet with their tender murmurs.
Bitter lemonade popping on the tongue,
Strawberries and cream like snowy roses.
The wind was honey and the days were young,
When sunlight to the flesh proposes.
Dusk revealed that auburn gem,
A flower of fire settling the sky
Atop its virgin cloudy stem.
The silver moon would then comply.
Diamonds speckled in the night
As we tried to catch the constellations.
And there we waited for the light
Of dawn and her temptations.
Someone else now guards with care,
Behind the garrison of high fence.
I fell in love with poetry there,
Somewhere ages and ages hence.
Between the gaps of angry wood
I can hear the bees, repressed.
Return? I don’t think that I should.
I’ll leave it there, how I remember it best.
