Surprise Happy 50th

Surprise Happy 50th

Inspired by Deborah Evans

Just two years after our wedding, my Linda was going to turn fifty;

I thought a beautiful surprise party, would be perfect for her, my love to see!

So I started making secret plans, a couple months before;

Whenever she’d be gone, I’d make phone calls, and hang up when she came in the door!

She’d look at me real funny, then say “who was that upon the phone?”;

I’d say, “It was just another wrong number”, and she seemed to leave it alone!

I threw it at our country club, with almost forty people there;

A sit down dinner with karaoke, the best of birthday fare!

Some relatives detained her, as we readied for her “Grand Entrée’”;

The moment that she entered, we screamed, “Surprise, Happy 50th Birthday”!

I ran up and I kissed her, and saw teardrops in her eyes;

I thought they were merely the by-product, of her beautiful surprise!

But a little while later, when she took the mike and spoke;

She said for two months, I’ve been worried, and my hearts been almost broke!

For all those secret phone calls, that my Larry could not hide;

I thought he’d found a brand new honey, and abandoned me, his Bride!

What a lovely surprise for her to have a lovely big party with all your friends. Is the photo one from the party? Well done for letting us get to hear about her birthday and well done for organizing it so well. I think that was so romantic.

Love you both

Hi G,

No, the photo was one I selected from google.  Actually, by the time the party rolled around, I was in such a state, that I cried half the time and was angry the other half.  I was sure Larry was cheating on me, so I was fit to be tied.  But, once the surprise happened, I was fine and we all had a ball!  He really did a great job.  Even my sister was impressed.  Larry was inspired by Debs poem "His Valiant Muse", to write this one with a bit of humor.

We send you our love,

Linda, Larry and little Cody

Hi Brother Tony,

When I read Debs poem, "His Valiant Muse", her thinking that he was cheating on her, brought this humorous anecdote from Linda's and my life to mind.  I had no idea that she even had such angst until she took the mike and told everyone about it.  So she got a surprise birthday party, and she gave me one hell of a surprise too.  Glad you liked it.  As always, your words are very special to me!

Peace, Love and Rockets,

xox Larry
