Survivor

Survivor

I am a survivor of life's many tornadoes.
Thee eye of the storm almost had me twisted
in an illusion of hope
that this natural disaster was a normal part of life.

My survival tactics became that of mother earth's
but as a mother of five beautiful children...
Finding strength
within silent pain
I endured from seventeen years of volcanic eruptions, unexpected liquefaction
That destroyed
the foundation
of my marriage.

Evacuation was hard,
but I was determined to reach higher grounds of support and safety
for my children and I.
The uphill climb had many slips from my own negative self talk conversations.

Trying to not look down
on the fiery pit of hell
I left behind.

Head stronger,
day by day
I continue to walk this staircase of heavenly surroundings
protected by the many earth angels around me.
