Survivor

I see the words,
surrounded by light,
heard by no-one,
but seen by everyone,
the harsh truths,
one can never abandon,
the thing that's always there,
the words we can never escape,
the words always on our minds.
The harshness,
the brashness,
the awful reality of these words,
hold our hearts,
everyone knows the truth,
some deny,
some accept,
some break down,
some cry.
Eventually we all let go,
let it go,
the truth has to be heard,
these scars aren't to be barred alone,
they are to be seen,
to be admitted,
to be heard in the darkness,
to be seen in the light.
I am fighter,
a warrior,
battling my demons,
I have been left with these reminders,
I am a survivor,
I am THE survivor,
the only warrior,
battling both sides,
I am the only one to fight,
the only one to bleed,
the only one to cause the pain,
but I will not be the only one to escape,
we will all survive,
no-one should battle alone,
together we should survive.
