Poem -
Survivor
None of what I've experienced seems real
Now I've reached the end of my ordeal
Pain and anguish taught me to be strong
I feel free since the hopelessness has gone
There was such a weight I found hard to bear
Now it is difficult to believe I was ever there
In that dark place I struggled to be myself
The toll of battle preyed heavily on my health
But I am living to tell the tale of those days
Much of what I recollect to astound and amaze
Never will I be able to view life the same way
I am more than thankful to be standing here today !
