Sweet Honey

The taste of biitter lemons has fallen to my tongue
The onion peeled its layers drop off making me cry
A child is born the scent of jasmine enters my mind
The grown man goes off follows his journey
The mother down on her knees weeps
He returns in the new year with a proud look on his face
Serving his country well the boy now a captain in the military
A smile quivers with happiness for his safe return
Love whispers in her ear with the scent of courage
Giving thanks for the taste of life and tbe patience  for the waiting
For now all that I taste is sweet honey and my tears fall from joy
