SWEETS OF MY YOUTH

I recall they were kept in a tight sealed lid
The sweets I enjoyed when I was a kid
What a selection I had back in the day
Here's my story and this is what I say

Chews for a penny money well spent
Parma Violets gave off such a lovely scent
Gave my Love Hearts to a girl at school
She thought me hip and ever so cool

Flying saucers had super sherbet inside
Double lollies from my sister I would hide
Curly Wurlys for that chocolate fix
So much better than Mars and Twix

Chewits gave a most satisfying chew
Fizz Bombs would turn my tongue dark blue
I loved my sweets back then and I still do
I pray that sweets will never become taboo
