Symphony On Ice

The smell of the ice is in the air
Cheers of the fans is beyond compare
With every slap shot on this frozen ground
The fans cannot sit still ,not a frown to be found
Kids dancing in the stands
Their smiling faces keeps the team upbeat and all around
What a mesmerizing day
Being a hockey fan is the best sport to be played
As the game comes to an end
Their is excitement, victory is close at hand
The right wing intercepts the puck
He slaps the shot with no need of any luck
The horns rings out as he gives a tremendous fist pump
Today is great watching this symphony on ice
A magnificent display as the crowds gives a shout out as they leave the stands tonight
Inspired by watching a charlotte checkers game last night

Bradford a fine strong piece you've penned!
Hey lisa thanks. I was on the way home with my son thinking of this write. Sometimes situations move you to write and i had half of the poem in my head driving home. Thanks for your comments, Bradford
Rock, cool write my friend, I never knew you were a hockey fan! is that a minor league team, the Checkers? I know the NHL Carolina Hurricanes, not these guys, anyway this is terrific in capturing the fan experience of a hockey game....I've been a Toronto Maple leaf fan for over 40 years, good to see there are fans of the game out there in the Carolina's, I'm not sure I would be one with all that good weather, love the write my friend, be well
Hey Chris yes it is a triple A team. The players are playing for spots on the Carolina hurricanes . One player we watched sat actually got called up to the big leagues today. My son is not big into sports but loves hockey now . Going to take him to a real NHL game this year or next . The checkers won in overtime hence the title for my write . Hope all is well , take care rock
Also thanks to whoever left me stars I appreciate very much , your friend Bradford
Hi Rock, I really enjoyed this write . It took me back to my childhood when our family would go to watch hockey every weekend . It's those special moments and memories we never want to forget . Take Care Loving Heart (whatever) hugs :)
My Dear Brother Poet Rock,
Is it the "Symphony on Ice", the fans come to see, or the puckering of pugilism? Do they come to watch them shake hands or wave fists? Does the right wing slap the shot successfully or does his body get upended by an illegal check? Do the teams stay sequestered in their boxes, or do they empty onto the ice for an all out melee? Sounds more like a Viking war chant than a gentle Sebalius symphony.
Peace and Love,
Thanks Larry . I like taking my son to the hockey games. He enjoys it very much . Trying to give the readers a first hand experience being a hockey game . Take care rock
