Take It To Heart

Take It To Heart

Thump....thump....thump
slow, heavy feeling
in my chest,
the blood will pump

There is an urge to run
My breath is slowing...
These limbs go numb
and this urge to fight is almost done

A gasp for air...
Is this my last chance?
I stand, and I breathe
This is so unfair

The end is near, not near the start
For I have punished
the one and only body
that I didn't take to heart...
