Poem -

tea

You could say we’re bags of tea.
Our bodies are the bag; a thin layer of skin keeping everything together
While our essence is the tea leaves themself.
Our chaotic environment is nothing short of boiling water: bubbles form and pop as if they’re reflecting the passing moments.
Each interaction we have with our environment is another dunk in the water, free will dangles above our head similar to the string on the tea bag, puppeteered by an anonymous brewer.
With each dunk in the water you change the world around you, your very essence seeping  out from tiny holes you had no awareness of. You may find yourself missing the clear environment you had as you continue to be submerged in the water. You say you haven’t changed because the contents are still within your bag, but you can’t argue with the water; what was once clear is now brown and earthy. Add all the sugar and honey you want, the water will never return to purity. You are now a cup of tea, I hope you don’t prefer coffee.
