Teardrops And Margaritas

Oft times Iāll go out to visit a bar, and have a stiff drink or two;
I do it to help allay all the pain that Iāve had since the night I lost you!
A strong margaritasā the drink of my choice, but I tell them āno salt on its rimā;
For after I down a few very long sips, I feel my eyes start to brim!
āCause Iām thinking of you and how in the past, youād always be here by my side;
Making some toasts and stealing a kiss, our hearts forāer coincide!
I miss you so much, I donāt know what do, so lost, am I, so alone;
Now there is darkness from deep in my soul, where the bright sun always had shone!
Some kind folks will come up and see I am sad, they try to get me to smile;
If I do crack one out itās purely faƧade, for inside Iām tasting my bile!
I know they mean well, but they donāt understand, that my heart is so broken in two;
Stand on their heads and spit wooden nickels, thereās nothing theyāre able to do!
So after they leave I start the downpour, again the drops from my eyes freely fall;
And thatās just the reason when I ordered my drink, I asked them for no salt at all!
For I knew that so soon it would come from myself, and cover the edge of my glass;
Margaritas and teardrops is what I now have, as time so slowly doth pass!

What a beautiful tribute poem Larry to the one you love. I`m sure she is still with you honey and watching over you. A well written and well thought through piece, one to be very proud of sweety.

Hi Georgina,
Thank you for the kind words.Ā Actually, my wife and I are still very happily married, but I have suffered tremendous pain with the loss of my other soulmate, my beloved dog Nico.Ā I've written a lot of poems dealing directly with him, but in this one, I tried to feel the pain of a person who had lost their dear love.Ā Thank you again for your friendship and kind words.
