Tearful After The Migraine

The migraine;
The pain over my left eye;
Flashing lights to the right
Of my vision.
Altered consciousness
Vivid dreams
Slow recovery.
 
Funny then how something sad
In the papers,
On TV or sometimes
In a song- or just an old memory
Can bring tears to my eyes.
Feelings are more acute.
It’s a kind of emotional release.
 
Gradually normality returns-
Or does it?
Is it rather
Just the old numbness returning
Allowing me to
Sleepwalk through life?
