Tears

Tears

I set sail on the river,
unconciously, unaware,
as an automaton repeating
its motions time after time…

Winds savagely breathe,
pushing my riversails
beyond their boundaries.

In this moment the head is no longer
a safe haven,
nor the heart such a harbour –

voices from the past
whisper dark thoughts into my
day, stopping the flow,
blinding me by false sun’s light.

Ravens gather,
feeling battle and defeat:
the son losing to the father,
turning to live not his own life.

I might as well sink,
no, think...

All is silent, not a single sound
surfaces in my soul. This
is not you, not us, someone
breaks through.

Night has come, now,
and with it a prayer,
words that breathe a new life
into the sails.

Nay, now that I found it,
by word of the lost one,
life is the candle
lit
in awe of itself.

Moon is waxing,
closing in on completion,
opening the night,
sails into wings
to flutter to the flower –

abundance emerging
from the torrent
of my tears
that wash away all hurts.

My breath flows from
body to marrow,
marrow to heart,
heart to memory,
memory to life,

honey to life…
