Tears And Tickles For Mr Rickles

We lost another great one today, the comedian supreme;
For eighty years he brought smiles to our hearts, in laughter would we scream!
The King of Insult with a heart of gold, he was loved by all he knew;
So Mr. Don Rickles, I’ll cry some tears, and write these words for you!
Â
From the time that you were six years old, you showed a rapid wit;
Your Grandmother knew you’d go real far, with “Stand up”, while others sit!
She was friends with Frank Sinatra’s Mom, and got you in the door;
From there the rest is history, for he could not have loved you more!
Â
You started in the “Borscht Belt”, at places like Grossingers;
The patrons were always howling, at your insults and your zingers!
Your career took off and then to Vegas, is where you had to go;
Your schtick was unbelievable, each performance a sold out show!
Â
Who can forget you and Johnny Carson, trading insults on TV;
These bouts were so hilarious, as funny as could be!
Your roasting of celebrities, was nothing short of legendary;
You had people rolling in the aisles, with your insults so contrary!
Â
The world will miss you greatly, our dear legend Donald Rickles;
We cry for you this sad day, and thank you for your tickles!
I heard when you got to Heaven, you called St. Peter an “Old and Lonely Man”;
And you told God, He’d have to pay for His seats to the Rickles' Show, but they forgave you, for they’re both such avid fans!

Dear Greg,
The only reason he called people hockey pucks, was because he was the greatest goalie in history.

My Dear Debs,
From the time I was a teenager, Don Rickles was my favorite comedian.  Even if it was a school night, and he would be on television late, I would stay up to watch him.  I would laugh so hard, I would literally be on the floor.  I saw his show once in Atlantic City, and was fortunate enough to have stage side seats.  It was absolutely remarkable the way he worked the crowd, yet I must admit, I was cringing with fear lest he might direct one of his jokes at me.  If you want to see him at his greatest, try and find the old Roast tapes from the Friars Club in New York City, with Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and of course, the great Don Rickles.  Thank you for your lovely words.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

My Dear Sweet Sparrowsong,
I tried that too, but found that I still was peeing in my pants, so I resorted to Depends. Â He would have been so proud of you, with your hilarious comment.
