Tears For June And Otto

Three weeks ago, I drove to Cleveland, for a morning business date;
As I remembered all the past trips, to see my dearest mates!
Their names were June and Otto, we were friends for forty-five years;
But now, my friends are both gone, I loved them very dear!
.
They never had any children, for June was unable to;
But they had a kitty and a birdie, which they loved so very true!
Otto was Hungarian, and June was from Cleveland’s West Side;
His knowledge of art was remarkable, the title authority not denied!
.
I would go to see them often, we did lots of business deals;
Afterwards, we’d always go out, and share a lovely meal!
But before, we sit together, drink wine and tell some jokes;
We would laugh and all be happy, our repertoire ne’er broke!
.
June passed away far too early, at the age of seventy-two;
Ten years younger than poor Otto, for a long time he was blue!
But then he got himself an assistant, to travel, and work with him;
For four years, he had a life again, when things had looked so grim!
.
I still came up to see him, two or three times a year;
But two months ago, he joined June, and I’ve had so many tears!
When I was up there on this morning, I drove past their empty house;
I cried, and threw some kisses, to Otto and his lovely Spouse!
.
.
My dear friends both gone
Forty-five years of pure love
My heart and Soul weep
