Tears In My Eyes, Wine In My Hand

I’m writing you this poem; I know you’ll understand;
I’ve got tears on both my eyelids, and wine in my right hand!
The tears are for the heartache, that I now feel every day;
The wine is my panacea, to help it go away!
I can’t face your loss without it; it soothes my aching soul;
The one you used to dwell in, but now, no longers’ whole!
My lamentations bring me sorrow, the nadir of my life;
The wine helps bring me higher, and alleviates my strife!
But all too soon I’m sober, back in the valley of no light;
With the tears of dark depression, that last into the night!
The only time I’m happy, is when I fall asleep and dream;
For there we are together, in the moonlights “Golden Gleam”!
But the moment that ends my slumber, is the one that starts my pain;
For I’m right back where I had started, without you once again!
I never shall stop crying, for with me, you no longer stand;
With everlasting teardrops, and a glass of wine in hand!

Cheers Larry! A superbly flowing and nicely rhymed write. Enjoyed though unfortunate the circumstance all the way through. Love and peace brother.

Hi G,
If anyone could understand, it would be you. I hope I didn't upset you, but I've just been feeling a little bit down these past few days. I love you too.

Hi Dear Debs,
Thanks for your kind comments. I think a lot of people are misconstruing my words, thinking I'm an alcoholic. It is funny, because I drank more before I lost Nico. Now, I probably drink less than a bottle of wine a day, and never drink after dinner.Â
Hugs, Peace and Love,
