Tears On Tears

I wake up every morning, with joyous tears around my eyes;

I’ve been dreaming you’re still with me, and I’m so happily surprised!

But then reality comes to hurt me, for you’ve been gone two maudlin years;

And that’s when they start cascading, those tears upon my tears!

For in my dreams, we are so happy, we frolic and we play;

At dawns light, I am so eager, to start our “blessed” day!

But that all’s so quickly over, when I come to realize;

That I’m all alone without you, except for, teardrops in my eyes!

The only thing I have left, are the momentos of your life;

I touch them every morning, to alleviate my strife!

This heart that once was happy, and beat strongly, with love so true;

Now flickers with palpitations, and pines for the absence that is you!

And this soul that found its dear mate, lays torn, and ripped in half;

For you were its sole completion, and always made it laugh!

But it cries for you all day now, then weeps more through the night;

With “tears on tears” eternal, since its mate lost his valiant fight!
