Teddy Bear Love Notes

Don't ask me why you asked me to marry you so long ago
Now we are no longer, only a couple of rings in a pawn shop
A wedding dress dropped off to a nearby thrift store
What happened, were we just too young or loco, never more
Time passes by, photos I still keep hidden for a rainy day, in albums stacked high atop
Atop my closet shelf next to old cards sent to me in a shoe box labeled Teddy Bear Love Notes
Don't ask me why I keep these small things, unless it's because part of me won't let go
Looking back makes me sad we just didn't try hard enough to keep us afloat
Do we still care or should we just let go of a love past, and just wave to each other like a friend
Don't ask me why we said goodbye, now I look back at photos and Teddy Bear Love Notes, and just pretend
Don't ask me why, when I think about you I start to cry
Don't ask me why, I can't say goodbye
It's just another rainy day, reading Teddy Bear Love Notes and looking back at photos, a heart to mend
Don't ask me why

Hi Nancy,
And ask you why, (i will not) but i will say, is this a poem full of heart and in your heart there lies an abundance of wonderful poems, still waiting to be unlocked, from that shoe box full of memories, hopes and dreams...As Eddie has so enthusiastically placed on font street, your manner of poetry writing is amazing and well versed....Keep in mind bears has their tendency of hibernating and once that period has ended, those teddy bear notes, that you so passionately collected and cherished forever, will once again give new relevance, to the return of, (the one you in memory), have saved your last dance for....
Wonderful poem,
Jim
