Teetering

Teetering

If only...
     ...damage could be...
          ...stripped away...
               ...like dirty clothes...
shed like an ill-fitting snake skin,
she could be her jovial self again.

Witnessing her wither
with each:
lack of invitation,
sideways glance,
intentional exclusion,
jabBing at every chance--

Where a jovial yoUngster once stood
now exists this fragiLe teenage shell
teetering on the mind's Ledge
just Yearning to be...
accepted,
resisting the temptation to crack,
searching for a similar soul
without compromising...
her own.

Thanks, girl!  Hope others can relate & understand they're not alone.  Praying that the worm turns on this horrible epidemic...  Excruciating to watch as a parent and our situation is minor compared to some...

Hi  Jacki Great Awareness poem
I  hate bullying  it should always be nipped in the
bud so to speak  as soon as possible.if  allowed to get away
with it I believe bullying carries on through life
I wrote a piece on bullying myself earlier on when I joined Cosmo
I  like the way you formatted your piece writing Bully  in bold
type to emphasize  the importance of your message
 bringing  it to peoples attention
Well Done
Best wishes Debs

What was the piece called?  Can I find it?  Yes, bullying can certainly damage self-esteem, confidence, and all social skills I'm guessing...  I was fortunate to not have to endure it.  With technology it has seemed to get worse...  All we can do is tell our kids that God made them the way they are and to "own it".  Blessings!

Hello Jacki...

I read this last night I tried to comment...

My device didn't want to cooperate...

Not the first time so I just have to be patient and try again...

I would like to think that anti bullying campaigns are working...

There were mean kids throughout my school days...

If I could run into any of them I would look at them and laugh...

Kids are much more cruel than the ones I went to school with...

Obviously, something just isn't working...

Bullies have self esteem issues, possible abuse at home, they end up being more sexually active...

A bully really shouldn't have much reason to be proud of themselves...

Great write!

Great message!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Thank you so much!  Appreciate the feedback...  Bullying can be so covert instead of outright nasty words/behavior.  I've decided (after getting some opinions) to put this on FB with a message and no mention of me writing it.  If it can open 1 person's eyes to talk to his/her child or can accomplish anything +, that is my prayer.  Technology has given kids more tools to be sneaky about bullying and to reach others in the safety of their own homes.  You're right, bullies typically are crying out for help in their own way and the whole thing saddens me.  Blessings!*!*!

This piece is very true and sadly a lot of people are bullied... We just have to pray for them and the bully.

You are right, Trinity, we have to "own it" in terms of how God made us...  Thanks!*!*!

Thanks, Mizzy!  This is getting closer to home (more covert than overt at this point), and it's gut-wrenching to watch.  At least my daughter is willing to talk to me about it. :)  Appreciate the feedback!*!*!
