Ten Million Dollar Baby
Six years ago there sold a coin, the most expensive ever known;
Collected from around the World, much interest in it shown!
Consigned to “Stacks and Bowers”, a most prestigious numismatic firm;
To be sold to the highest bidder, quick payment was the terms!
.
It was a 1794 U.S. silver dollar, its condition like brand-new;
Just as the specimen in The Smithsonian, one of only known two!
It is said that its metal content, came from George Washington himself;
Taking silverware that he and Martha, had upon their dining room shelf!
.
Conjecture was running rampant, as to what the coin would bring;
Expectations around three million, that the cash register would ring!
When the day came for the auction, the phone lines were totally full;
Along with attending buyers, “what price should I pay, they mulled?”!
.
But few in the market ever expected, its unbelievable hammer price;
A “Ten Million Dollar Baby”, multiplying estimates over thrice!
It was purchased by a corporation, planning to keep it for some years;
Who knows how much it will bring the next time, only the wisest of all seers!
.
.
Ten million dollars
Paid for a one-dollar coin
Highest inflation

To me this illustrates the utter shallowness and ridiculousness of mankind who always and will always put a material object before the welfare of their fellow man. The rich and powerful have far too much of the world's resources to waste on frivolities while the rest of us struggle to eat. Makes no sense to me, nice write Larry ?
My Dear Marion,
It is a shame that three percent of the World, have ninety-five per cent of the wealth. When I was a lad, it was a big deal to be a millionaire, but now, billionaires are common-place. As the old saying goes, "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Thank you for your most powerful comment.
All my love,
Larry xxx
Hi Larry
An amazing write - it's incomprehensible that so few hold so much wealth! I guess if you have everything, you have to find something to spend your money on!

Hi Lyndy,
So nice meeting you. Thank you for your lovely comment. Actually, the coin was purchased as an investment, by a large corporation. It will be interesting, in the future, when they decide to resell it, if they will make a profit.
Peach and Love,
Larry xxx
