Poem -

~ TENDER YEARS ~

~ TENDER YEARS ~

In the light, the warmth
Oh, that welcoming warmth
Engulfing those tender years
The time spent working
And NOT enjoying
Those, most glorious moments
Some of the true highlights
Of one's own life
That seem to roll
Right through the mind
Like a highlight reel
As you sit back
In your rocking chair
And learn, NOT to despair
Near the end of your life
For, although time has rolled on by
There's an inkling, deep inside
A kind and most nourishing warmth
That your soul does recognize
Filling your spirited awareness
With the perfect analysis
Of knowing that your creator
Has chiseled out a special welcoming
For all of your experiences
To be catalogued and cherished
And held, in that tender warmth
Of those,
Oh so Tender Years....

What a great poem about being young.

Tony, you never cease to amaze me with your poetry. It's funny, when young, the children all want to hurry up and grow up. Then, we hit 30, 40, the dreaded, 50 and hopefully 60, and 70's. I'm almost 50, but feel much younger in heart. Ah...to be young again, what events would you change? Or what experiences would you want to relive again and again.

Hi T....We take for granted when we are young how precious that time is..the innocence of those years and how much we will reflect on them.  There is something sentimental about getting older and reflecting back on our lives...as the memories are there to remind us of what we experienced that leads us to who we are today.  I am sure God does catalog all our memories that make us unique in our lifetime...those warm fuzzy times that we want to hold onto.  I cannot believe how fast is going...and the new aches and pains that my body lets me know that I am getting older and further from those tender years.  Beautiful composition, T.  Love n Hugs, xo ;)

Thank you Tony.
I've learned so much since being a member here. What makes this website so valuable is that it's world wide and there are a lot of different styles of creative writers. You are an amazing writer, you and your wife, I really think you two should pen a collection together. That would be so much fun I think

I deeply admire this one Tony. Not because I
relate to it personally, but because I WANT to
relate to it personally you know?

That is what I envy about many of your works.
They are the Ever-Faithful expressions of a Soul that
believes in it's own transcendence without question.

Reading works such as this immediately put
me to mind of Jung's ideas on Individuation, and
I think that you my friend are one of the most
rare, and individuated types to bless this site with
your uplifting artistic essence.

By comparison I am a shadow, (as shakespeare
said) a shade! a poor player who struts and frets
his hours on the stage.(and then is heard no more.)

this work is timeless.

Oh My Goodness JEREMY!!..... this is the proof that you are indeed, to some extent, my poetic alter-ego!!.....I am way beyond humbled by your words here.... and I DO so look forward to the time we get together to do some co-writing..... for you to say that, "By comparison " ~ you are in any way to be compared to that, most famous, Shakespearean quote is simply "Not Possible"....... your light is too bright brother!!..... and words are a miracle that have NEVER existed before your pen put them to paper!!......Thanx SO much for this.....I am your friend..... and Ever-Admirer!!......T xo. : )
