~ TENDER YEARS ~

~ TENDER YEARS ~

In the light, the warmth
Oh, that welcoming warmth
Engulfing those tender years
The time spent working
And NOT enjoying
Those, most glorious moments
Some of the true highlights
Of one's own life
That seem to roll
Right through the mind
Like a highlight reel
As you sit back
In your rocking chair
And learn, NOT to despair
Near the end of your life
For, although time has rolled on by
There's an inkling, deepĀ inside
A kind andĀ most nourishing warmth
ThatĀ your soul does recognize
Filling your spirited awareness
With the perfect analysis
Of knowing that your creator
Has chiseled out a special welcoming
For all of your experiences
To be catalogued and cherished
And held, in that tender warmth
Of those,
Oh so Tender Years....

What a great poem about being young.

Tony, you never cease to amaze me with your poetry. It's funny, when young, the children all want to hurry up and grow up. Then, we hit 30, 40, the dreaded, 50 and hopefully 60, and 70's. I'm almost 50, but feel much younger in heart. Ah...to be young again, what events would you change? Or what experiences would you want to relive again and again.Ā

Thank you Tony.Ā
I've learned so much since being a member here. What makes this website so valuable is that it's world wide and there are a lot of different styles of creative writers. You are an amazing writer, you and your wife, I really think you two should pen a collection together. That would be so much fun I think
