Poem -

Thank you

 From the dusty streets of Soweto, to the water's edge of the Indian Ocean;

 the bowing and the lowing of the rhino,

 the trumpet of the elephant,

 the roar of the lion and the sprint of the cheetah;

 and the majestic gallop of the wilderbeest.

 All stand in awe of the greatness that was -

 that is -

 that will live forever!

 A smile on his face as he walked free; hands up in the air.

 Your moment of self glory and 'getting even' through revenge - but NO!

 You smiled and forgave - just asking for peace.

 You united and brought us together;

 You gave us humanity; you allowed us to dream.

 You proved that hate is a disease and love its only cure.

 You make heaven proud with your humble ideals even though you are only man.

 Madiba, tata, Nelson - I thank you for the life you lived, the experience you encountered and the hope you shared so that boundaries could be broken.

 Hamba Kahle* my hero, our hero, the hero- rest in peace in the sweet by and by until we meet on that beautiful shore.

*Hamba Kahle – farewell as you go home.
