That Old Lie
thought of Wilfred Owen

How can you write
War poetry..
When it's been
wrote..
that deathly fight..
...there's none so read
as the stained stones kissed
by the English dead.
I so love Wilfred.
Oh love my lips lose lure
with your words in
my head..
Son of a preacher man,
You exposed the atrocities
faced by our young boys ..
sent to war,
Shot for ' shell shock'
Labelled a coward..
which they was not...
Sensitive Wilfred..
who's colours were unknown.
I was haunted by your
verse at a tender age of seven ,
Not knowing what it meant.
but I liked the subtle rhyme
and intent..
You died moment before
the war ended..
Such a shame..
without glory.
Dulce at decorum est
pro patria mori.

Smashing Love it a lot. I too enjoy some of Wilfred Owens writes. So very sad that he was killed only weeks before the end of the war... I always enjoy your work. Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea
Rare topic and well penned.

-- Google: "It is sweet but fitting
Die for your country."
-- doesn't seem to be right ;)
Yiyan Han.. the clue is in the title...x
Ps you must read his poem...and the one I love is ' Red lips are not so red..as the stained stones kissed by the English dead ' (Greater Love) this is what captured me as a child, I could not understand it till years later.
